Bicycle Routes

As thé bicycle province Noord-Holland has got a special bycle route system, with numbered routes from point to point. Two special routes are the Pontjesroute and the Brede Duinen route.

The pontjesroute
One of the most popular routes in this area, also known as the route round lake Alkmaar. This route will guide you trough several pontoons in Noord-Holland. Some of the pontoons you can operate your self, at others there a someone that operates the pontoon. This beatiful route alongside the lake will also guide you pass some mills. The ideal way to discover Noord-Holland!

Hiking

If you are a fan of hiking, hotel Akersloot is also the perfect location. From the hotel you can start directly with one of the sevaral routes through the beautiful nature of lake Alkmaar.

A nice tip is a hike over the beautiful island de Woude. A unique island in the middle of lake Alkmaar. The Woude is part of the Westwoude polder, a breeding place for several birds.
